At Peak to Peak, we believe that learning flourishes when students feel safe, supported, and understood. As part of our whole-child approach, we offer a range of student wellness and support services designed to meet students where they are and respond to their individual needs. These supports include the Student Study Team (SST) process, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) support sessions, and clinical therapy services. While each plays a different role, all are designed to promote student well-being, growth, and success.
Referrals for SSTs, SEL support, and therapy may be initiated by parents/guardians, teachers, or school staff.
The Student Support Team (SST) is a collaborative, school-based process designed to support students who may be experiencing academic, social-emotional, behavioral, or attendance challenges. The SST brings together parents/guardians, teachers, and school staff to better understand student needs and identify effective supports.
Through the SST process, the team works together to:
Share concerns and observations
Identify student strengths and areas of need
Develop targeted strategies and supports
Monitor progress over time
The SST process is part of general education and is intended to provide early, responsive support. Participation in SST does not mean a student is in Special Education and does not automatically lead to an evaluation for Special Education services.
Parents, teachers, or school staff may request an SST at any time.
When students need additional or ongoing support beyond early problem-solving, the school may recommend or families may explore social-emotional learning support or therapy services, depending on the nature and intensity of the need.
SEL Support Sessions focus on helping students build everyday skills for emotional regulation, relationships, and self-awareness within a school context. These supports emphasize skill-building, reflection, and strategies students can use across their school day.
Therapy is clinical mental health treatment provided by a licensed therapist for students experiencing more significant emotional, behavioral, or family-related challenges. Therapy services are voluntary and confidential and may include individual or family support.
Both supports are important, and students may access one or both, depending on individual needs.
Skill-Building for Emotional Growth
Our SEL Support Sessions are grounded in The Nurtured Child Project, a school-based SEL curriculum that emphasizes dignity, belonging, identity, and emotional growth.
These sessions are:
Preventative and supportive (not clinical therapy)
Short-term or ongoing, depending on student need
Focused on skill-building and reflection
Aligned with classroom learning and school culture
Identify and name emotions
Practice coping and self-regulation strategies
Navigate peer relationships and conflict
Build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging
Feel supported during transitions or temporary stressors
SEL support is ideal for students who need extra emotional guidance but do not require clinical mental health treatment.
Clinical Mental Health Support Through Licensed Professionals
Peak to Peak is pleased to offer therapy services in partnership with Creative Connections, a licensed therapy clinic providing individual and family therapy for students and families.
Therapy services are delivered by licensed mental health professionals and are designed to support students who may be experiencing ongoing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges that extend beyond the scope of school-based SEL support.
Peak to Peak offers multiple pathways for families to access therapy services through our partnership with Creative Connections. Families may choose the option that feels most comfortable for them.
With family permission, the school may support referrals in one of the following ways:
School Referral with Consent:
Families may complete a school referral consent form that allows the school to share basic contact information with Creative Connections. Once consent is provided, the therapy provider will reach out directly to the family to begin the intake process.
Family Interest Form (Direct):
Families may also submit a basic interest form directly through the Creative Connections website. The therapy team will then contact the family to discuss services and next steps.
In both cases, therapy services are provided by licensed clinicians, and the school does not participate in clinical treatment or access therapy records.
Families may initiate therapy services independently, without any school referral or involvement.
Flyers with information about free therapy services are periodically shared and posted on campus
Families may contact Creative Connections directly at any time to request services
No school notification or approval is required for self-referral
This option allows families to access support privately while still benefiting from on-campus availability.
When therapy services occur on campus or during the school day, the school maintains a separate in-house consent/acknowledgment form to support scheduling, supervision, and logistics only.
This form:
Does not grant access to therapy records
Does not involve the school in clinical services
Ensures appropriate coordination during the school day
